Here is a Ladybird Cushion. I have not stitched it up at the back yet as it needs more stuffing to make it rounder. I have made this for my niece as her nursery theme is "insects"

Strawberry Sewing Needle Case
I had some scraps of material left over from previos projects and decided to make a strawberry shaped sewing needle case. I hand stitched this item completely.
Scissors Bag
I wanted to make a bag to keep my fabric scissors safe together and also to prevent them being used for cutting paper ( paper makes fabric scissors blunt..just in case you were wondering ) I used a scissor print material, lined the inside and used a zip.
5 Minute Heart Pin Cushion
Here is a very very oober quick pin cushion I made in 5 minutes after a panic while on my sewing machine that I didn't have one. I hand stitched it from felt. To be honest, not much care and attention went into it..but I kinda like that it looks a little shabby.

Baking Utensils Drawstring Bag
I was fed up with all my cookie cutters, cupcake cases, icing bits and rolling pin cluttering up my drawers so I decided to make a basic drawstring bag to hang on the back of the kitchen door and keep it all in. I used some scrap gingham material and plain white to line the inside with. I decided to funk it up a bit by attaching two Gingerbread Men appliques that I made using felt scrap and secured using a hand sewn blanket stitch.
Robin Hood Doll
This is the first doll I made in a long time and used him really to practice knitting again. He is made using a pattern.
Allen The Alien Mini Doll
Here is a little Alien doll I made without using a pattern, just knitted and hoped it would turn out ok. Allen is only 6 inches tall. I stuffed him with toy wadding and rammed lots of cat nip leaves inside him. He is one of the cats favourite toys. As you can see from the piccy, he looks a little tatty, this is due to the fact he gets beaten up every day!!

Minnie Mouse Costume
A friend asked if I could make her a fancy dress costume for a movies party. She wanted to go as Minnie Mouse. So we made her a simple skirt.
Carrier / Plastic Bag Holder 2
I made this basic carrier bag holder with two strips of dotty material I had left over from my other two kitchen projects. I sewed the lengths of fabric together. Stitched a hem at the bottom and one about 3 inches from the top. Neatened the top edge with bias binding and made a small hanger with some remaining bias and finally stitched the remaining edge holding it all together. I threaded elastic in the two hems.
Carrier / Plastic Bag Holder
This was the first attempt using and learning my new sewing machine. I had some scrap material and decided the simplest thing to make first would be a carrier bag holder. I also tried to practice applique with attaching some hearts to the front of it. Personally I wouldn't give this as a gift because the applique is a little bit dodgy!! I now realise that I should have bought some stuff called interfacing which you iorn on to the back of the appliqe material to make it easier to sew and also stops the edges from fraying. Anywho...thats we why we need to practice!!
Apron - Basic
Using the rest of my dotty fabric, I made a super basic apron. Using once again my old apron as a template. I finished the edges using bias binding and I made the straps using a plain green. I sewed along the strips of green and turned them inside out using a long knitting needle to pull the fabric inside out. Once they were turned inside out, I iorned them to give them a neater finish. I then attached to the appron using a box and cross stitch to ensure they were super secure. Its only a basic apron but not bad for a first attempt. Its useable!!!
Oven Mitts
I made these oven gloves using some dotty fabric. I used my old oven gloves as a template. I used a heatproof wadding specially for oven mitts and quilted accross the material and finished the opening edges with bias binding before sewing together. I thought the tough bit would actually be the quilting but that was suprisingly easy. The bias binding however was slightly tricky but I put that down to perhaps not getting a wider version.

Taggie Baby Toy
Had a request if I could make some Taggie Toys, so I purchased material, ribbon, wadding and made these shapes. Ensuring the ribbon is super secure, I stitched over them 3 times. Once to hold them to the fabric, Inside the hem with the main stitching and I then overstitched the edges.
Victorian Doll
Here is a knitted doll I made using a pattern. I made this as part of my nieces Christening gift. I think she turned out rather well! I also made a dragonfly print baby blanket by hand using very light frosted material to emphasise the dragonfly wings on one side, and a lilac fleece backing so its soft on her skin on the reverse. The door sign for her room however, was not one of my creations! I had that part made especially to match the rest of the gift.
